How Supermassive Black Holes can get when their galaxies collide?

What can be better than to watch two huge galaxies are spiralling into each other before they collide? Also just think about what if three galaxies are swirling into one another before they collide and they also have black holes from their core to boot. Dr. Adi Foord of Stanford have led a team that has carefully explored the data given by WISE mission and the Sloan Digital Sky Survey to find the occurrence of three galaxies colliding with one another. In their exploration they have find 7 separate systems that met the criteria. They have questions about the system as it was between 370 million and one billion light years away so it very difficult to detect any light coming from it. The research was more focussed about the supermassive black holes of the system, and if they did how many of them are present in the system. They carried out the wavelength from the X rays which are very descriptive about the black hole interaction and also their ability to find the material present in the black hole. They took the help of Chandra X-ray observatory to observe those 7 systems if they have the black holes present at their center of their galaxies that are merged together.

So far the merger of supermassive black holes has not been witnessed and it would be interesting if they do. There is no evidence of two supermassive black holes merging together and if they really do the main question is will they emit gravitational waves like it was first detected in stellar sized black holes. There are two possibilities; first is if they get merge they do not produce gravitational waves and the second possibility is they do not merge at all. Michael Koss of Eureka Scientific tells that if this kind of scenario occurs not even detectors like LIGO would be able to detect the merger of black holes.

This theory of merging may not works if there are two objects in the system, they might not get merge. This will work by adding the third black hole in the system, one will remain in the center to destabilize the system and the other two will get merge in the three body problem.

In this process they have found series of results with three black holes in the system but they didn’t get any x-ray of emissions from black holes at all. They also found other results with four systems including two supermassive black holes in it and also the one with single supermassive black hole in it. All these observations and findings will give the clear understanding of the black holes or not is not clear yet in the environment of trio merging galaxies. But for the future exploration collecting and archiving more data about the universe will become more useful.
