ESO’s Extremely Large Telescope Stunning New Website – Have a look!!!

European Southern Observatory (ESO) have put all of their efforts to experience something to be extravagant by the philosophy of go big or go home that encourages them to go all-out. They have launched a captivating website just to display the information of their Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) scheduled to launch its first flight by 2025.
The new website is designed in such a way that it contains excess of details about the ELT like images, instruments and also how it is going to help us in increasing the knowledge of the universe.

The telescope is under construction on the top of the mountain named Cerro Armazones in the Atacama Desert of northern Chile and it will be the world’s largest optical telescope. The architecture of the new telescope consists of a reflecting telescope of diameter 39.3 meter (130 foot) segmented primary mirror and also 798 hexagonal elements that works altogether. The secondary mirror is of diameter 4.2 meter i.e. about 14ft. The main goal of this observatory is to collect light that is 100 million times more than human eye and 13 times more than largest optical telescopes and it will be enough flexible to correct the distortion in the atmosphere, also the 8 laser guide in the star units and other science instruments.

This telescope is going to become the biggest eye on the sky by using 8 laser guide stars just to measure the light that gets twisted by the roughness in the earth’s atmosphere. The M4 mirror helps the ELT by producing the images that are 16 times sharper than the Hubble Space Telescope by just adjusting its deformed shape in its real time to make up with the atmosphere changes.
Astronomers hope that there are some questions that the ELT will answer and the website will display all the features of ELT, its history and also show the timeline for the development of telescope.
Each page of the website is designed in such a way that if the users will easily get the general information by reading the text at the top page, it also includes summary about its components and science cases so that user can take the broad idea about the ELT, user can get the technical details at the bottom of the page etc. Have a look of the new website on this link: and also have a look at the video below showing the trailer of ELT.
