25th Solar Cycle

A recent study shows that the 25th solar cycle is more powerful than the previous prediction. In the astronomy world it will be a big question for 2021. Will the 25th solar cycle will slay their observers or will it going to be the flop? And the new study and predictions shows that it is going to be a great adventure.
The 24th solar cycle was a non-achiever after the completion 23rd cycle. In starting it has produced just 116 number of sunspot and as we move ahead to 2019 it has increased to 281 the longest sunspots in century.
Many astronomers have predicted that the 25 solar cycle will be absent or will follow the suit. Last year in September NASA and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) have made the panel for 25 solar cycle to predict about its weakness using solar physics model. A new study has published in November 2020 issue of Solar Physics which shows that it is not what it seems like when it comes to host star. Scientists at NCAR (National Center for Atmospheric Research) observed the sunspots of 270 years and what they found is when the cycle completes the next cycle tends to the strong in its full swing. The last short termination was in 1950 cycle 18 which was then followed by cycle 19 the strongest in 20th century.

Scott McIntosh lead author at NCAR told that most of the traces of cycle 24 are gone and cycle 25 has started. Definite predictions will start once the cycle 24 starts terminating.
The exact termination point can be predicted by looking at their differing sunspots cycle and the researchers have predicted that cycle 24 will end in 2021.
In other words, we can say that the termination point is measures by how strongly the sunspots interact with the magnetized bands. It’s all about overlap and weaker cycles, the more the strong interaction was the more overlaps and weaker cycles are and the weaker the interaction has less overlaps and stronger cycles.
In 22-year sunspot cycle observing the one-half i.e. 11-year solar cycle is one of the strongest in astronomical records. For solar cycle the current numbering is 1755.
The number of sunspot is carried out by taking the average weight which is also known as Wolf number based on astronomer Johann Rudolf Wolf. The system was then changed in 2015 based on Royal Observatory in Brussels, Belgium by SILSO (Sunspot Index and Long-Term Solar Observations). In new cycles the sunspots always start working at high latitudes which is also known as Sporer’s law.

How the 25 solar cycle is going to be? And the answer to that is they have already predicted the model and also found out that one of the largest sunspot is going to be visible at the end of 2020 and only the sun fall is silent in the beginning of 2021.

Space observatories like NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO), NASA/ESA SOHO, STEREO and the NASA/European Space Agency are all going to observe and study the sun like never before. NASA’s solar mission about the solar poles was selected for a concept study and about to launch a five-year mission in 2025.

There’s always a battle between the solar activity and the cosmic rays and the astronauts always have to cope up with the dangerous solar flares.

It may means a lot for most of the solar observers to watch out the sunspots and solar projections in the coming years.
